ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings, drawings, and installations focus on the natural world, at the intersection of landscape and memory. Using multilayered oil paintings and watercolors, in installations and series, I explore the rhythms and underlying forces of our environment through abstracted forms and altered perspectives, in details and broad horizons. The work addresses personal loss and identity, along with the broader themes of habitat destruction and the impact of climate change. I depict landscapes shaped by natural processes, human activity, history, and memory, charging the physical world with emotional and symbolic meaning.

My work is an examination of how place, imagination, and existence are interconnected. As the land holds the imprints of time and human experience, the work merges my personal history with a broader environmental context. By observing and interpreting the natural world, I engage with these layers of meaning, offering both a record of the land’s material existence and a space for reflection. With a deep respect for the environment, my work emphasizes the importance of understanding the connections between memory, time, and the changing world.
