STANZA

Stanza is both a refuge and a fortress. The form replicates a sacred grove in the shape of an eight pointed star, made up of trees from all seasons, from bare branches of winter to fully foliated branches of summer. It is a protection and a defense for the trees, as they protect and provide sustenance both physical and spiritual, to us. They sustain us as we sustain them.

This installation was part of Imagined Realities, a temporary exhibition at Sustainability Park at Redline, in Denver, CO, June-August, 2013, that explored concepts of energy and sustainability.  “Imagined Realities is really about thinking through all of our aesthetic, social, philosophical, and pragmatic relations to the world in which we live,” -Courtney Lane Stell, curator
