ESTUARINE

Estuarine is the meeting of salt and fresh water, an inlet reaching the ocean edges; the middle ground. It is a unique ecosystem; seawater enters and leaves through tides forming a boundary that is neither definite nor distinct. The paintings combine images of water, native biota and centric based images to suggest the beginning of time and the primordial soup containing just the right ingredients of mineral, microorganism, moisture and heat to create life. Both the history and current features of the local landscape (Colorado was once covered by ocean) were utilized in the paintings that were site specific to the location.

The paintings were exhibited at the Denver Botanic Gardens in 2012.
