Monumental

The paintings of Monumental depict all of the U.S. national monuments that have been established to honor and protect places of cultural, environmental and cultural importance. Created for the exhibition Pink Progression, they reference the women’s marches, moments for women to gather, assert their voices, highlight inequality and propel change. Rendered in shades of pink and red, they deploy a sense of urgency as well as traditional phases of feminism and the lives of women, from baby blush and sexy hot pinks to reds of passion, rage and love. The same respect that is needed for the rights of women is also needed for the environment and culture. Exhibited at the Center for Visual Art, Denver, in 2018, and Telluride Arts Foundation’s Gallery 81435 in 2019.
