Via Dolorosa

Via Dolorosa continues a theme first explored with Stations of the Cross from a year earlier. Like that series, the paintings borrow from the factual and historical precedents of the path, the Via Dolorosa (the sorrowful way) that Christ walked on his last day of life. This series depicts the traditional 14 stations in a non-traditional way. They utilize familiar natural forms to interpret and pinpoint moments in time, creating a memory of a journey and transporting us to the present as we navigate changes in our social and environmental worlds. Exhibited at the First Congregational Church of Boulder, Colorado, in 2020.
