Out of Ashes/Eternal Return
The state of Colorado has experienced a rise in forest fires over recent decades. These works are based on firsthand observation of the landscape in the aftermath, showing both the first impressions in winter and the summer regrowth that follows. Images of charred trees and fireweed, a plant known for thriving in fire disturbed soil, reflect the ongoing cycle of
destruction and renewal. In the face of environmental loss, they offer a reminder of resilience, recovery, and the renewed life. These were exhibited at the McNichols Building, City of Denver, and Gallery West at Pikes Peak State College, Colorado Springs.
